Best Plants to Keep Mosquitos Away

Backyards are meant for you to enjoy and have fun with your family and friends and not meant to be bothered by unwanted visitors like mosquitoes. There are many ways of getting rid of these pests besides using a zapper or candles that give off an odour. The natural way would be to surround yourself with these plants that will help. The plants by themselves will not produce the scent required to keep them away but will have to be secreted by rubbing them between your fingers. What is more effective is using the natural oils that is obtained from these plants.

  •  Eucalyptus They are generally tall trees or shrubs which grows well in sunlight. They are usually drought resistant, and they grow well in environments that offer a hot climate. It is known as a therapeutic plant because the oily leaves secrete a menthol scent when rubbed together which acts as a deterrent for bugs and mosquitoes.
  • Neem is a medical plant used by many farmers who which to focus on organic farming techniques to produce healthier food consumption for humans and also which helps the environment. It is also used to treat plant with fungicides. Neem requires a hot climate. The plant is found in many Caribbean, South America and many other countries.
  • Rosemary Is an amazing plant used in many culinary dishes. It also has been used in the treatment of hair. Besides all of this this it is also a deterrent against mosquitoes.
  • Garlic Its pungent smell keeps those bugs away.
  • Peppermint besides its wonderful properties for teas. Mosquitoes are not attracted to the smell.
